Implosion
(I think we will reach 2,000 comments this week!? Remember that the lucky poster of the 2,000th comment will win a gift certificate, or if you missed the details, see the bottom of this post.)
I have been quite delinquent on showing some of the nice yarns added to my stash during the past few months. Here’s a catch-up! more »
Slytherin!
Whee! Early last week, my Hogwarts Sock Swap TWO package arrived from Amelia Crowhaven! She sent some great stuff!
3 things
- It’s so sad, shocking, and awful about the bridge collapse. Yes, I’m OK. Fortunately no one in my family was anywhere close. I used to live on the West Bank, right in this area; I can’t imagine how stressful it must be over there now.
- In case you missed the news, MezzoDiva is fundraising for her participation in the 2007 Weekend to End Breast Cancer. If you contribute, you will get a copy of her sock pattern Campanula for the Cure! All the details and donation instructions are available in this post. She has also recently started a KAL blog for anyone planning to knit the pattern. It’s a very pretty pattern; I haven’t quite decided what yarn I’ll use. Possibly the recent Rockin’ Sock Club colorway, Firebird? Or maybe I’ll wait to see what arrives this month?
- Did you know Tuesday Morning currently sells yarn? And not just the eyelash/novelty variety. I had no idea. Mom happened to stop in there yesterday and bought a few skeins for me. She reports that the shelves were pretty messy and picked over (typical of the store), but that there were also some very nice yarns priced at 50% off retail.
Hat of Gold
Skeins Her Way is having a contest, check it out! You could win a copy of her Fitted Tank pattern and some lovely organic cotton yarn. Go to her contest post for the prize and entry details.
Here are my knitting goals for this summer:
Hogwarts, we have a problem
This is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in Bee Stripe from a kit. Actually, there are a couple problems with it…
Anniversary (Contest #5)
For a while, I wasn’t sure what date to use for my blogiversary. Several dates stood out in my website’s timeline. Should I pick:
Keep your paws clean
Two quick things before paw business: The “What’s in a color?” (Contest #5) Winner will be posted tomorrow! And, several people asked about the yarn I’m using for the Yarrow Ribbed socks. The yarn is the Calzetteria shown here, specifically the Venice colorway. I finished them a couple days ago and will post FO pictures this week. :)
La’s having a DeFeet of Cuteness contest. I’m kind of late, but I couldn’t resist posting a few good pictures I got of Munchkin:
Old and New
I continue to gain yardage.
First, I splurged a little bit after I received my income tax refund. I couldn’t resist the colors of that Fortissima (Mexico Evolution Silver), perfect for Project Spectrum. I hope I can start them next month!
What’s in a color? (Contest #4)
I’ve decided it’s time for a contest! (All the pictures in this post can be clicked to view a bigger copy.)
I recently completed a pair of socks with Trekking XXL in a lovely colorway, “76.” Well, I say that number leaves something to be desired. If a color number doesn’t have a corresponding name, then I usually come up with my own. But this time, I’ve decided to offer up a prize and see your suggestions. :)

Gusto!
Today’s post title comes from a comment left by Guinifer last week. It’s a great word; I don’t think I have ever used it in an actual conversation. But it certainly applies here.
My yarn-buying binge did not stop at the 3 Kittens sale. Did you notice (perhaps with surprise) that I didn’t buy any sock yarn there? That’s right, I didn’t. There weren’t many left in the sale section, and nothing inside the store tickled my fancy. You see, last month, I suddenly had a craving for green sock yarn. It had to be a certain green. The dark green Fury I have in my stash from Shelridge Farms didn’t satisfy my craving because it’s so dark it appears black. I wanted something really green. What to do?
