A couple weeks ago, I was in the mood to knit a washcloth and Dave’s Garterlac Dishcloth fit the bill perfectly. I had some Peaches & Creme in a crazy rainbow-like colorway that I thought might work well with the entrelac squares.
Potholders
By chance, I found out that Metro Meals on Wheels were asking for donations of handmade (knit, crochet, or sew) potholders. They would be used by drivers or given to clients. They are looking to collect 800 by this coming holiday season (deadline Dec 5), but have an ongoing goal of 8,000. Look for the "Feature: Knit and Sew Potholders" pdf file listed under the Volunteer section on the website for more information.
After browsing Ravelry, it seemed like many potholders were cotton, acrylic, or felted wool. I know from experience that I didn’t want to use acrylic. (Acrylic would be fine for decorative purposes but not for actual use, since it melts.) It’s been a while since I knit with cotton, so I scrounged my dishcloth cotton stash for some possibilities. more »
Bib Modeling Strategy
1. Stake out potential model’s favorite sleeping spot.
2. Wait until model is asleep.
3. Put camera and bib within easy reach.
4. Wait a little bit longer. model could be faking sleep.
5. Turn on camera.
6. Double check that camera noise didn’t disturb model.

Bibbage!
As I was working diligently on the baby set for my cousin, I realized I would be remiss if I didn’t whip up a couple of bibs to include in the package. I went stash-diving and found a couple of colorful cottons.
If you think the cast-on (bottom edge) looks wonky on this bib, you would be correct. I had the bright idea to make a ruffled edge. So, after consulting Stanley’s Knitter’s Handbook, I cast on twice as many needed stitches. But I goofed, and forgot to take into account the proportions of garter stitch. Someday I’ll try casting on thrice the amount needed.
(These colors remind me of Cotton Candy…)

Colors of the Southwest
Recently, my mom traveled to Tucson on a business trip. She stopped in at Purls East (Knitter’s Review article) on her last day and got me a couple things in great desert colors.
