The story of a little skein
(Quick note: My dad’s health has declined since his long illness a couple years ago. This past summer, he was accepted as a candidate for a heart transplant, and last week, he was admitted to the hospital and is now waiting for a new heart. My cousin up north is also in the hospital with kidney-related problems. Wish us luck and healing!)
This cute little skein in lovely blues and greens was given to me by my parents after a trip to Michigan for a family reunion in August. Grandma liked the colors, so I decided to make something for her, and I knew just the thing.
Mocs
Here is another Christmas gift finally finished. Truthfully, it was knitted and felted a few days before the holiday. They just never seemed to dry out, and were still damp on Christmas Eve. I gifted these to Dad without the soles because of their dampness, and because I wanted him to try them on first, in case further fulling was needed.
It’s always comical to see how big something is before it’s felted, so I made sure to snap some photos before throwing them into the wash.
It’s cold!
Thanks again to everyone who left comments about my Dad. I’m glad to report he’s well on the way to recovery, and was able to spend Thanksgiving at home.
It’s been busy, busy. We’ve been shopping, working, solving jigsaw puzzles, baking and cooking, eating, and knitting. (Okay, that last one was just me!) Here’s a picture from when Grandma and I baked some of my favorite Pumpkin cookies. more »
Update
Thank you again to everyone who left comments about my Dad in my last post. We really appreciated it. He did leave the hospital last Monday. But by Friday, he had a high fever and signs of Pneumonia, and Mom took him back to the hospital yesterday morning. He has had oxygen and also new antibiotics. The folks at the hospital are hopeful that he will be able to go home tomorrow or the day after that.
I’ve been keeping myself busy knitting and cleaning my parents’ house and have hardly spent any time at the computer. I’m ridiculously behind. Grandma is in town for Thanksgiving, so we’ll be hitting the day-after sales this weekend. I hope to be able to share pictures of WIPs and FOs next week.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Worn Out
I have no energy today. It’s been a busy and tiring weekend. My dad had to go into the hospital; he had a heart attack (20-year history), but is OK now and will go home in a couple more days. There’s plenty that needs to be done before Thanksgiving, so I’m going to take the week off.
I decided earlier that I wanted to participate in the “From the Stacks Winter Challenge.” more »
