Belated Birthday

After almost two months of crazy deadlines, I was eager to knit something at a relaxed pace. Since my birthday was coming up, I thought I ought to make myself something. I chose this design, because I thought it might go well with my dresses.

Potholder Mania

Back in May, it was potholders and hotpads all the time, as I worked feverishly to finish the set of five I needed for this swap. Even though I dithered about it at first, I couldn’t resist joining Hot Pads! And Potholders – The Swap. We had to crochet five potholders, and we could use any [...]

Potholders

By chance, I found out that Metro Meals on Wheels were asking for donations of handmade (knit, crochet, or sew) potholders. They would be used by drivers or given to clients. They are looking to collect 800 by this coming holiday season (deadline Dec 5), but have an ongoing goal of 8,000. Look for the [...]

For Mom

Monday was Mom’s birthday, and I made sure to have some handknit gifts ready. First was a pair of mittens she had requested last year.

Bib Modeling Strategy

Stake out potential model’s favorite sleeping spot. Wait until model is asleep. Put camera and bib within easy reach. Wait a little bit longer. model could be faking sleep. Turn on camera. Double check that camera noise didn’t disturb model.

Bibbage!

As I was working diligently on the baby set for my cousin, I realized I would be remiss if I didn’t whip up a couple of bibs to include in the package. I went stash-diving and found a couple of colorful cottons.

Treasure Hunting

This past weekend was the Second Annual “Tools of the Trade Twin Cities LYS Shop Hop.” Because I didn’t go last year, I decided to go on Saturday and asked Mom to go with me.

What I really liked about the Hop is that I got to visit five new-to-me stores. The metro area is [...]

At long last!

Can you believe it? I finally finished the Cropped Cardigan; all the seams have been sewn, ends woven in, and buttons attached.

Yippee!!

Technically, this project took over a year to finish, but a lot of that time was spent in hibernation. If I had worked on this continuously, I estimate the actual time would be [...]

Sockin’ Along

Lily has just announced Sugar ‘n Cream Twists, a marl/ragg version of their cotton. The color selection is small but respectable; I’ll have to keep an eye out for them around here.

I’ve been working on the Fluted Banister socks every time I go mall-walking. I can finish 1-2 inches in a hour, so it takes [...]
