Dad’s Cardigan

Here’s another gift for Dad, a cozy cardigan. I really liked the texture motif that continued from the cuff up the sleeve and saddle. It’s technically a jacket, and is knit with bulky yarn, so it was relatively quick to knit.

Gansey in Triplicate

So, apparently, Mom and I created a monster when we collaborated on the first Gansey Watch Cap. It led to another, very similar hat, after which Dad asked for of his own (in the same two-color style) in maroon and gold, the U of MN Gopher colors.

I feel I can’t start any new projects until I get [...]

Gauging Felt
Posted by limedragon | Filed under felting, knitting
Before I began work on the two big gifts due later this year, I realized I needed to knit and then full at least one swatch. Normally I don’t worry about gauge and size for felted items since the fulling process controls the end result. These two gifts I’m making are a bit more complicated [...]

Adventures with Continental

I’ve been able to progress farther along on my left-hand scarf project. I was able to finish 8 inches in one sitting, yay! Some observations: Tension, tension, argh! It’s always been a problem when I try Continental knitting. If anyone has ideas/suggestions/wisdom to share, I’m all eyes. Practice does help… I think the number of [...]
