Ravelympics 2008: FO #1
Posted by limedragon | Filed under kid stuff, knitting, sweaters
Whew, I finished my first project for the Ravelympics on Monday! :) I’m really happy with the results. It wasn’t a difficult pattern, but was time-consuming. With this, I earned medals in Sweater Sprint and Colorwork Cross-Country.

(Many thanks for everyone’s kind comments about the bunny pullover. I’ve been so focused on my Olympic knitting that email, blog-reading, and the like have fallen by the wayside, sorry!)
The Ravelry is doing a fun knit/crochet/spin/dye/whatever-along during the 2008 Olympics, with over 5500 members participating. I signed up with two projects and two teams: The [...]

For a while, I was working on my current SOS08 pair, Big Basin (from Six Sox Knitalong). This is the first time I’m using a wool-tencel blend

When I started putting away the few colors of left over Wool-Ease I had pulled from stash for the Gansey Watch Cap, it occurred to me that I could make my own marled yarn by mixing and holding different color strands together as one yarn.
But what to make? Hats! I needed to add a [...]

A few days before Christmas, I finished the main knitting of the big gray blob. It was so big I had to be very careful when picking it up and carrying it, lest it get stretched out. For extra peace of mind, I waited to take a pre-felting picture until I had basted together most [...]

Ahem. I’m afraid I haven’t completely caught up with all the yarn I’ve acquired lately. Here’s a few more things…

Gauging Felt
Posted by limedragon | Filed under felting, knitting
Before I began work on the two big gifts due later this year, I realized I needed to knit and then full at least one swatch. Normally I don’t worry about gauge and size for felted items since the fulling process controls the end result. These two gifts I’m making are a bit more complicated [...]

I’ve been knitting a lot with stash lately. It’s apparent from looking at past projects and my stash that, albeit my love for color, I do have a fondness for black and gray. These are my favored neutral colors—when I can’t make a color decision (”Oooh, purple! Oooh, red!”), I usually end up with [...]
