Aberration

I’ve been struggling with a lack of focus. I can’t concentrate on my current projects. I desperately want to cast on something new, or even worse, buy new yarn. (It’s that time of the year, when fall catalogs full of beautiful, warm sweater designs and accompanying richly colored yarns arrive in my mailbox; it’s only natural to want to stock up ahead of the coming winter. Help!) My thoughts and habits are scattered all over the place. My project monogamy and singlemindedness of the past 9 months have completely dissolved.

I sort of fell off the wagon. How much is “sort of?” Read the rest of this entry…

Poodle Army

I don’t know about you, but I’d be a bit intimidated if I walked into a house or bathroom filled with these things. An army of Poodles (I wonder if I still have the pink poodle soap and toilet paper holders from my childhood somewhere in storage…)

Good news, bad news

Which do you prefer to get first, bad or good news? I’ve always preferred getting the bad stuff first, but today, I’ll put it behind the cut. I’m also postponing a new, knitting-related post until next week. Good News #1 Although the doctors couldn’t figure out the cause of his kidney problems, my cousin is much better and has returned home. Good News #2 Everything is going very well with Dad’s new heart. The doctors are considering a pacemaker to speed up the heartbeat, but it’s early days yet. Read the rest of this entry…

Have Heart

Many thanks to everyone who left or emailed well wishes for my family; we all appreciated them!

It looks like Dad may have a donor. The new heart is expected to arrive about 9 pm; so it’s going to be a long night for us.

I’ll post another update tomorrow or Monday. Thanks again everyone!!

The NeverEnding Stash

The story of a little skein

(Quick note: My dad’s health has declined since his long illness a couple years ago. This past summer, he was accepted as a candidate for a heart transplant, and last week, he was admitted to the hospital and is now waiting for a new heart. My cousin up north is also in the hospital with kidney-related problems. Wish us luck and healing!)

This cute little skein in lovely blues and greens was given to me by my parents after a trip to Michigan for a family reunion in August. Grandma liked the colors, so I decided to make something for her, and I knew just the thing.

Ravelympics 2008: FO #2

I was really suprprised at how quickly I was able to knit these. It took only 6 days (I took one day off to seam and finish the Loon sweater). Considering that these are my first ever pair of stranded colorwork socks, I’m very happy with them.
