…Hello Illinois!

(Very belatedly!) Nicole guessed correctly right off the bat after my last post. I’ve moved to UIUC to work on my MLIS (Master in Library and Information Science). I’ve been so frustrated with job hunting and trying to figure out what to do for the rest of my life. The answer finally came to me via Ravelry. Yep.

After working for a while as a volunteer editor, helping Ravelry with its pattern and yarn databases, and after reading some comments in Ravelry groups posted by library professionals, I began to realize that LIS could be a good fit for me as a career. So I researched the field and several programs. I chose to go to UIUC because the job/practicum/internship opportunities seemed really good, and I was interested in both the Data Curation track and Special Collections Certificate program. And so I’ve been here for over a month, and it’s going pretty well so far. :)

I still knit, definitely. I’ll try to blog once in a while now that I’ve gotten more settled in this new place.

Yep, I’m moving! Some of you know where, others will find out in the next blog post. I wasn’t sure we could get everything to fit in the van, but we did. Believe it or not, I am only taking two boxes of yarn with me. See that pink box on the left in the photo? That’s one of them–can you believe my restraint?

Just am incredibly busy with other stuff. Exciting stuff. Non-knitting stuff!

By the way, a little heads up to those who have me friended on Ravelry–I am almost nearly done entering my stash and will be uploading many yarn photos and rearranging favorites and queued items this coming week. Chunkster/TBR Update

Here’s another local event to add to all the upcoming spring events: the local Yarn Shop Hop is back, this time as “Summer Knitting (and Crochet) on the Go.” Since I went last time, I’ll probably skip this one. But it’s a great opportunity to see shops that you might not usually visit or haven’t seen yet.

Pepperidge Farm has made available the ubitiquous Australian cookies for us here in the US. Yum! According to the website, they’re only available “for a limited time at Target.” Such wording makes me want to build up an emergency stash in my freezer.

Many appreciative thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments about my Bohus socks (last post)! I have been putting off blogging about another FO, because the project itself is… meh. I’m tempted to skip over it and blog about a nice lace scarf I just finished. We’ll see what I decide to do on Friday! :)

Meanwhile, here are a couple cute things for you all to check out!

Apparently Miro keeps a herd of sheep (you may have to scroll down a bit). I like how there is a red sheep instead of a black one!
Last week, Chris Baldwin who does the webcomic Little Dee, made an awesome series on spinning/knitting. My favorite is the second one; I wish I could buy the artwork, but my budget won’t allow it.
