Thanks everyone for the great comments on the previous post! Here are the numbers picked by the Random Number Generator matched to the commentors (The first two get the copies signed by Stephanie).
I’ll email the lucky winners later today; congratulations, and enjoy the comic! (If you missed out, you can check to see if your LYS is a retailer, or ask your LYS if they’ll do mail order for you.) I submitted a sock design to the Sock Wars IV organizer and it was chosen as one of the pattern options. It’s called Insidious, partly inspired by the main entwined cable motif on the outside legs, and partly a play on the name of Darth Sidious (aka The Emperor in the original Star Wars trilogy). My goal was to come up with a pattern that would be relatively quick to knit and easy enough for first-time socknitters without being too boring or too basic for those with more experience. I hope I succeeded. :) In addition to the already-mentioned entwined cable motif, I utilized the Strong heel and the wide toe to play up things a bit. There are some advantages to using the Strong heel: there are no stitches to pick up as in a traditional heel-flap-gusset construction, it seems to fit high insteps better than a traditional short-row heel, and it is easier to maintain the yarn stripe pattern if desired. The yarn is the new TOFUtsies Power Stripe (color 931). Here’s an example of what the sock would look like in a traditional TOFUtsie colorway or a semi-solid. This pattern will be available for free after Sock Wars is over. Hope you all like it. :) (Ravel Insidious.)
