bare naked lacy
Whee! Another pair of socks finished! :)
These started out very slowly. I was in a toe-up mood, and decided I would try a pair of Detonators from the toes upwards. My intentions were good; I read through several Ravelry discussions about the unfortunate stitch count controversy (Is it a 8 or 9 stitch repeat?) that arose from the odd wording in the description of an increase in the pattern notes. I thought I had figured it all out and knew I wanted my results to look like this. I reworked the pattern over a smaller size, since I knew that 73 stitches would be too big, even with a tight gauge. Sadly, my take on the pattern didn’t work out.
I stumbled across a new pattern posted to the Summer of Socks 2008 Ravelry group and realized that the stitch count was the same as my about-to-be frogged Detonators (64 sts). Perfect! Instead of frogging completely, I ripped back to the toe section and soldiered on with the new pattern.
The rest, as they say, is sock history. My chevrons point in the opposite direction, naturally, since these were knit toe up. I also substituted a plain 2×2 rib cuff for the cute picot cuff used in the pattern. I needed the elasticity and ease of fit of the ribbing for the intended recipient. I hope they fit!

I love them! I’m so glad you found a pattern that worked in the end. The results are spectacular in that yarn. (Especially since I’ve been in such a pink mood.)
They are fabulous and the color is sooooo girlie… Luv them!
I love them–the lacy pattern and the pink yarn are perfect together :-)
Very pretty. I’m so bad at picking sock patterns that work well with multi-colored yarns of any kind.
Lovely socks :)
Nicely done! That is a fantastic color!
They are absolutely gorgeous!
awwww, pretty!
Those are really pretty! The pattern does complement the colorway beautifully and that’s hard to do.
Pretty, pretty, pretty!! All that and a trip to Walgreens??
Whee! Pretty!

Ooo, very pretty! The colorway is really set off by the lace pattern.
