Rustic

Now that I had a plan worked out for the Omo yarn, I decided to start the other stole I wanted to knit, the Logan River Wrap. I was attracted to its rustic tweedy, and cozy appearance. By lucky coincidence, when this issue of Interweave Knits (Winter 2007) arrived, WEBS had the exact yarn on sale, in a gorgeous deep purple. It was fate!

This picture was taken yesterday, after I’ve worked about 13 repeats (of 29 total, started on Sunday). I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this project, both the yarn and the pattern. The color in the above picture is much more true than the other picture below. The tweediness combined with the dark purple does mean I have to work under the OTT lamp most of the time.

Until I read through the instructions and looked at the chart, I didn’t even notice that there were dropped stitches included in the design. Now that I know, they seem so obvious! (And I hadn’t seen the bonus photos at Interweave’s website, either.)

The pattern repeat is easy to memorize and almost seems to knit itself. I love the way the cables create the vertical borders. I’m planning on knitting the lower border this weekend. The pattern uses a crochet provisional cast on, but I used the open provisional cast on with a spare needle instead of spare yarn. Doing the cast on this way is much easier for me, and saves time in the long run.

The feed is fixed - woo-hoo! :)

That is going to be so cozy - I love how smooshy it looks already.

I love that pattern too! Looks very snuggly.

That is really beautiful! And you are so fast!

That is going to be truly lovely when finished.

I love this pattern and I’m so happy you’re making it so I can see how it turns out. Will it need to be blocked when you’re done?

It’s awesome. LOL “It’s fate”
You are quite fast to knit that long.

That open provisional cast on always confuses me. I really need to just sit down and do it step by step.

I love the wrap! Gorgeous color and gorgeous cables. I think I’m on a cable kick right now. The dropped stitches really add something special to the design.

Wow, is that pretty!

Hey! I like the new site design with the fun purple and lime (!) dots! And I want one of those lamps! Or some kind of good light. Anything would be better than what I have now (just an ordinary lamp and not enough light in the room!).
