Very Warm Hat
Here’s a Finished Object that I’m very late blogging. It’s also my very first EZ project. FuzzyBritches’ Warm Up the Winter gave me the perfect opportunity to knit a Very Warm Hat, which I’ve wanted to knit for quite a while now.
The yarn was left over from the Triple Patterned hat you’ve already seen. I knit this hat a little bit shorter that I would’ve liked (scarcely 7 inches / 18 cm before starting the crown shaping) because I was pretty sure I didn’t have enough yarn left for a larger hat. (In the end, I had just a couple yards left of each color, whew!) This would probably fit a child or small adult best, unless one wanted to wear it as a beanie.
I took a picture of the stranding inside under an Ott lamp. It was nighttime and at this point in the project, I was ready to begin the decreasing of the second crown, so I wove in all the ends and took a quick picture. I didn’t want to put it down until the next day for a better photo.
I’m very, very happy with how smooth my stitches appear in the small motifs. Instead of holding one color in each hand, I carried both yarns in my right hand. It was definitely awkward, and half of the time I just dropped the yarn not in use while working with the other. I can’t wait to try more stranded projects and practice holding two colors with my right hand. My left-handed knitting tension is so inconsistent that I don’t like to bother with it.
This hat was lots of fun. I’d love to knit one for myself, if I can decide on a motif to use. It would certainly come in handy! (Yesterday morning, it was about 7°F / -14°C at 8:30 when I cleaned the sidewalks at my parents’ house. Brr!)
I can’t decide which side I like better, purple or cream. What do you think?

I like the cream side better! The hint of purple makes me want to look inside and see if perhaps ther is more purple and then I’d see the amazing constuction of the hat and be SO AMAZED! Nicely done girlfriend!
That is such a great hat! Probably wouldn’t fit me, as I have a large head. I’m sure someone with a fairly small head will be thrilled to have it!

That’s a great hat! And you did a great job! For me, I’d probably wear the light side out, but that’s only because the purple would wash me out… they are both great. And those slytherin socks? YOWSA, they are fantastic!!!
