Slytherin Socks

It took a long time but I finally finished the socks for Amelia, my Hogwarts Sock Swap TWO pal. We had exchanged emails at the beginning of the swap where she indicated that, because she received a pair of Gryffindor socks in the previous swap, she was open to receiving a pair of socks in another house’s colors.

Based on her feedback and comments, I decided to knit a pair in Slytherin House colors. My original plan was to knit a pair of Nagini socks. However, I got the feeling Amelia was interested in knitting that pattern herself someday, so I decided to design something new for her.

I still need to work out a few last details (and pick a name!), but I plan to have the pattern available next year. My holiday and charity knitting have me busy until the end of this year.

(The lace has lots of texture, and thus far, 99% of my attempts to photograph it have failed. The above was the best result. Ugh.)

Also, after all the work on the lace pattern, I have to confess that I actually prefer the wrong-side fabric. Crazy! : )

Really great pattern!

I like the undulating columns of knit stitches! Very cool. Will you be showing the “right” side?

Yes - I’d like to see the other side as well. I love the pattern as you show it, so you’ve got me really curious.

Great pattern!

They turned out great! I can already tell that’s a pattern I’ll want to knit. :)

they look great

the red blockers make it look like holly berries or something poking thru the lace - very Christmasy, at any rate =]

Those are brilliant socks! I love the design!

I like both sides. You could advertise the sock as being reversible.

I love those socks! I eagerly await the release of the pattern, but hey! No pressure. ;-)

It does look very Christmassy. Wow, I love that rib surrounded by lace pattern.

Can’t wait for the pattern!

Cool pattern and great looking socks.

Looking good!

My Number Guy keeps insisting that I make a contrasting heel flap - it sure adds interest.
