Recipe: Cranberry Pecan Bars

21.Dec.07 ~ 7:25 am

My mom received a framed copy of this recipe years ago from an old friend. Whenever she needs or wants to bake some holiday treats, she’ll make a batch of these bars. They’re sweet, tart, and yummy all at the same time.

Somewhat Plain

20.Dec.07 ~ 6:33 am

Whee! These are the last pair of socks I needed to finish for holiday knitting. The original plan was to incorporate the leftovers from the other Italian series with this last colorway. That didn’t work out because I used up all of the yarn with the Broadripple and Yarrow socks. Nevertheless, these turned out well with the backup coordinating yarn (Patons Kroy in Newport Tan).

Broadripple

19.Dec.07 ~ 7:01 am

Broadripples were all the craze two or three years ago. I have so many sock patterns I would like to knit that I either forget what’s available, or have a hard time choosing. Ravelry helped me remember the Broadripple pattern, which has been sitting at number two in my queue since I signed up. Hooray!

Have you any Panda Wool?

17.Dec.07 ~ 6:46 am

I thought this last-minute but thoughtful gift would be a Breeze. But disaster has befallen; I have completely run out of yarn!

Cables and skimpy yardage** turned out to be a bad match. Even though I should’ve known better, I had every faith that what I had (one skein plus a bit leftover from the baby hat and booties already knit from a second skein) would be enough. Nope. Continue reading »

Aftershock

Congratulations to trek who left comment number 2,000! She chose the Amazon.com gift certificate. Many, many thanks to all of you for making blogging fun!

Ahem. I’m afraid I haven’t completely caught up with all the yarn I’ve acquired lately. Here’s a few more things…

The new Blue Moon Fiber Arts’ Raven Series was too much for me to resist, but I did limit myself by ordering only two things. It took a long time to pick out Ravenscroft, a gorgeous green-black. Continue reading »

(I think we will reach 2,000 comments this week!? Remember that the lucky poster of the 2,000th comment will win a gift certificate, or if you missed the details, see the bottom of this post.)

I have been quite delinquent on showing some of the nice yarns added to my stash during the past few months. Here’s a catch-up! Continue reading »

Very Warm Hat

06.Dec.07 ~ 6:34 am

Here’s a Finished Object that I’m very late blogging. It’s also my very first EZ project. FuzzyBritches’ Warm Up the Winter gave me the perfect opportunity to knit a Very Warm Hat, which I’ve wanted to knit for quite a while now.

The yarn was left over from the Triple Patterned hat you’ve already seen. Continue reading »

Slytherin Socks

05.Dec.07 ~ 6:23 am

It took a long time but I finally finished the socks for Amelia, my Hogwarts Sock Swap TWO pal. We had exchanged emails at the beginning of the swap where she indicated that, because she received a pair of Gryffindor socks in the previous swap, she was open to receiving a pair of socks in another house’s colors.

Based on her feedback and comments, I decided to knit a pair in Slytherin House colors. My original plan was to knit a pair of Nagini socks. However, I got the feeling Amelia was interested in knitting that pattern herself someday, so I decided to design something new for her.

I still need to work out a few last details (and pick a name!), but I plan to have the pattern available next year. My holiday and charity knitting have me busy until the end of this year.
