Decisions, decisions (Part Two)

It took a while, but I finished swatching the possible color combinations I had chosen for my Sockapalooooza pal’s socks. A few quick pictures will show how the swatches turned out.
Swatch 1
The original plan was to use the two blue colors together. It looks fine. I’m not crazy about how the mosaic looks in stockinette, though.
Swatch 2
I don’t really like the green Koigu with the Dusk. And that stockinette looks pretty bad!
Swatch 3
The green (which was popular with you readers) works well with the Navy. I like this! But…
…I noticed there are bits of brown and blue in the Koigu that blend in too much, as evidenced by the other side of the swatch.
And did I mention the stockinette? Disliking it more and more. I don’t know why I insisted on knitting the mosaic pattern in stockinette. Let’s try one last swatch.

Much better! I think this is what I want to do!

Well…who knew? Sometimes swatching is worth the time. 8) I like #4 too, but #1 is nice as well. And I agree the garter stitch is better.

I like #4 too. It’s always so amazing to me how differently the yarn will knit up then what I envision. Mind you, I’m horrible at envisioning.

Ahhhh….I think I recognize that pattern from SENSATIONAL SOCKS. I almost used it for my Hufflepuff socks.
It will be fun to watch you knit these socks.

Are #1 and #4 the same colors? I like both. But you are reight the pattern looks more interesting in #4.

I don’t usually like garter mosaics but you’re right, it looks better in garter than stockinette. Go figure.

I like 4 as well. I just did a whole sock with the mosaic in stockinette (it’s on my blog if you want to see how it came out), so clearly I like stockinette, but I like the way your garter looks, too.

Very interesting to see how they all worked out! Good choice on number 4!
