Red River
When the new June pattern for Sockamania was distributed, I had a hard time figuring out what yarn I wanted to use. It took rummaging through a few stash boxes until I finally found something that felt right.
Also, I’ve been looking forward to the new color phase for Project Spectrum: red, black, and metallic. Before I cast on for the new socks, I snapped this photo with Munchkin in the background. She was just sitting there, as if she knew she was providing me with the perfect black and dark silver accent to the vivid red yarn.
Anni, the designer, gives several toe and heel options for this pattern, but I’m knitting as (so far) instructed. That includes the short-row toes, which really aren’t my preference. I figured I may as well do them once in a (very) long while for practice. The zig-zag direction on one sock is reversed because I like when socks contrast each other.
I am loving the semi-solid colorway (BMFA STR in Mustang Sally). Why don’t I have more of this stuff? Oh yeah, I’m always seduced away by self-striping and variegated colorways.

I love your socks! I just posted my in progress socks on the site!

Seduced? Hmm, oh yea. Me too.
What a gorgeous deep red. Love it!
Hmmm….might be time to break out MY Mustang Sally. I had no idea it would be so beautiful. Nice choice for that pattern. Your socks are looking great.
That is beautiful!
I really love that yarn. I can’t tell you how tempted I am to get some for myself.
