Decisions, decisions (Part One)
I’ve been thinking about what to knit for my Sockapalooooza pal. I browsed through Knitty, MagKnits, and Nancy Bush’s books for inspiration.
Nothing seemed right until I happened across a sample at Knit Picks of all places. The sock had been knit in the Caesar’s Check mosaic pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks. Perfect! A two-color pattern that would be interesting, a bit different, and not difficult to work.
I ordered from Knit Picks a couple colors that I thought would work with the pattern, plus a few extra yarns to gift. Once I had the yarn in hand, I started to worry. I thought the colors were kind of boring. Why not check my stash and see if anything might work better?
Plan A
The original.
Plan B
Plan C
Plans B and C were immediately rejected because of too-similar colors.
Plan D
This has potential.
Plan E
Plan F
Plans E and F are okay, but seem too masculine.
I found a couple other good color options (bright blue, or bright red) in stash, but the yarn content seemed too different to even bother (too fuzzy).
What’s next? Swatch Plan A and Plan CD to see how the colors work together!
(Updated: Darn, initially I put in the wrong letter in and this may have confused some early readers, so sorry!)
I like “C”!
Oooh, I like D…so waiting to see swatches here.
I like “C” too!
Oh, I’ll wait to see the swatches, but I love D…..
I really like D the colors are great!
I vote E. The green will look great peeking out from the black.
Oh I really like Plan D. I hope you’ll post the swatches!
I really like D!
I like D too - the lighter blue with the variegated? Oh yes, what Opal said! Post the swatches?
I look forward to seeing your swatches! What fun! I think they would all be cool in different ways, different moods.
I hope D worked out!

Not D? I check out Knitpicks often for sock patterns - they kind of run under the radar, don’t they?
