Limbo
Posted by limedragon | Filed under general, knitting
I’ve been in a weird sort of knitting limbo or apathy. I knit and knit, but I don’t seem to accomplish anything. Gauge is way off, the fabric sucks, the yarn looks ugly, et cetera.
This has all been caused by several factors, the largest of which is I still haven’t finished seaming the Cropped Cardi. The shoulders have been attached, but that’s it. I won’t allow myself to start a new, large-scale project until this cardigan is 100% complete.
It’s a bit silly, I know. But on the other hand, I’ve been unable to decide which project I should start next. A shawl? A sweater? A blanket? Deadlock!
I may should take the cardi with me in the car to Shepherd’s Harvest on Saturday and work on it then. Mom showed interest in hand-dyeing, so I got us both into a class on Saturday as a Mother’s Day gift.
Now for some non-knitting content.
Chocoholics beware! The FDA is considering changing the definition for chocolate (allowing substitution of vegetable fats and oils for cocoa butter). Read all about it here in this LA Times editorial. The same author blogs at Candy Blog and provides a link (and separate tutorial) to the FDA comment site. If you feel strongly about this, send your comment to the FDA by June 25. Via Knerq.
Generally I don’t feel the need to share videos here, but I saw this entrancing Thousand-hand Bodhisattva Dance and couldn’t resist. The performers are all deaf members of the China Disabled Peoples’ Performing Arts Troupe. The video is approx 6 minutes, and if it doesn’t work below, try the Google page (link above). Enjoy! I took a dyeing class at SH last year and it was a lot of fun – even though it was in an unheated building and the outside temperature was about 50F (plus rain). Hopefully we have better weather this year!! And I hope that helps you most past your knitting apathy – been there, and it isn’t fun.

Hehe, thanks for spreading the word. It bodes well that the deadline was extended from April to May to June.
