Sock Premiere

Remember that nasty sock curse I had? No more! Yesterday I finished up the Fortissima socks and took them someplace special for their first outing. (More project specifics soon.)

No, it wasn’t to meet R2D2 (located at Victoria-Grand).

The Yarn Harlot finally came to MN! She was entertaining, and I got to meet Chris (Stumbling Over Chaos), Amy (KnitThink), Connie (Between Loads) (I’m in one of her pictures), and Melinda and Denise from the We Knit group.

I was able to get in the queue early and Mom snapped a picture of Stephanie signing my books. (That’s the Bohus sweater on the table.) Originally, I was planning to stay for a little while after the talk to meet or chat with other knitters, but Mom and I decided we were too tired to stay much longer. Go to Chris’s, Amy’s, or Connie’s posts for more pictures and great write-ups. Many thanks to The Yarnery for organizing the event!

It was cool to meet you!!

Excellent socks. :)Your bag was absolutely amazing, btw.

Hee hee - I took a picture of that mailbox, too. Geeks untie, yo.

I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet you last night. Chris did tell me you were up toward the front, but just then, the door prizes started and I completely forgot to track you down afterwards in my haze of Fleece Artist love.

I kept looking for a woman wearing lime green, having decided that would be the easiest way to spot you, but no joy. Oh well…maybe next time?

Bummer, sorry I missed you last night!

Lucky you! Sounds like you all had a blast.

It was great to meet you! Wasn’t it a fun evening?

I bet it was a fun evening! It’s always a treat to be with the Yarn Harlot. You’ll have to let me know how you like her new book.

That’s great that you had a great time. I’ve been missing her every single time. Bah… School comes first to me.
Hey I spotted you. I should have known you would wear a lime green sweater. Ha ha.

Chris pointed you out to me too, but I was too chicken to go say hi. and then when my courage reappeared, you were gone. =(

(and I too got the R2 in a pic. same one. there’s a tree growing out of it in my pic.)

Sounds like a great time!

We saw R2D2 in Santa Fe!

Lucky you, seeing the Harlot!

So glad the sock curse has been foiled. It sounds like such a wonderful time getting together with the Harlot! I dream of one day getting to see her speak.

How fun! I’m very envious.

My livejournal blog doesn’t let me email comments back! So, in answer to your question. I made up the hat pattern based loosely on the “we call them pirates” hat. Sketch for it on 3-15 post and yarn on 3-5 post.

[...] 10th, 2007 Really petty and selfish girl wants to feel less jealous about missing the Harlot. The one weekend she’s going to be in town, the fabulous LYS that hosted [...]
