Still cursed, but…

Quick question! Is anyone doing a Stash Flash on April 1 again this year?
I’m still battling the sock curse. Meanwhile, I’ve got an almost FO and a FO to show you all!!
I’m frogging the Mad Cows again. There were fit issues and stripe issues. I definitely like the color combination (boysenberry sorbet and blue raspberry icee), so I will keep that and restart them soon! They were a good distraction for me while the wintery socks were being punished resting. I’ve switched back to these socks now and I think the heels will fit.
Yup! The Cropped Cardigan pieces are all finished. Now the seaming begins. I’m using DMC embroidery floss in white for the seams. I thought using the same yarn would bulk up the seams too much.
I also finished up the Short-Row Hat. It was a really cute project. The short-rows were a lot of fun to knit, and although it looks complicated, it’s not. Once I had knit through the repeat twice, I could look at where I was and figure out what I needed to do next.
It’s also a relatively quick knit. Yes, I realize it took me all month to knit, but I think I spent only 1-2 hours on it each week.
After a quick Google search, I found other knitters who knit this hat with the dictated yarn (Ami-Ami Faith); however I have never seen, much less used that brand (is it available anywhere locally?). The Patons SWS worked out well, and you could probably use Noro Kureyon or another self-striping yarn, or even a solid. I think variegated yarns might look too busy.
I knit mine at a slightly tighter gauge because the SWS is a very loosely spun one-ply yarn, and I didn’t like the almost-too-loose fabric I got with a US 7 needle. The circumference is 18″—unfortunately too small for me to model.
Someday I’d like to knit this again, possibly with two additional diamond sections for added height, and with enough repeats (two?) to fit. I hoped to have an i-cord stem but ran out of yarn. This whole hat took just one skein of the SWS.
I didn’t use the three-needle bind off as the pattern directs, but grafted both ends together.
I still need to trim off the fuzzy halo and block the hat, but the quilted pincushion appearance is very cool.

As much as I like to see other people’s stash, I’m not flashing mine …. my camera’s not big enough. :-)

Love the hat!! You show those socks who’s boss. ;)
Nope, not doing the stash flash this year. Lots of work – plus I’ll have company.

I’ll flash if you flash!
And I’m sure that hat looks very cute when worn!

That hat looks beautiful! It seems the perfect use for that yarn too. I am attracted to their colors of yarn but scared of pilling and such, but a hat doesn’t doesn’t get the wear that the sleeves of a sweater or that does.

Great hat! I’ve been battling a sock curse as well. Argh!

Great hat! No sock curse here, unless you consider that they are the only things I can seem to knit right now.

I love the hat! I’m definitely saving this pattern to make – especially since I’m on a hat kick.

I love the hat, unfortunately I can’t download it, seems Interweave has removed it! Anyone else have a link to a free short row diamond motif hat?
