Happy KMKS!

The long wait is over! My kit from the Knit Mitt Kit Swap arrived last week! I had all but forgotten about it and was awaiting delivery of some shoes I’d ordered. When I saw the box, I thought, “Shoes!” and ripped it open only to find tissue paper and softness underneath. I tried to remember what I had ordered, then as I lifted the tissue paper and saw the bag underneath, “Oh! KMKS!” My kit came from Lauren of Knitting in the Desert.
The bag she made for me is super fun, I love the purple and green striping yarn she used. I like the purse construction and the button is perfect. (It isn’t very visible in the photo, sorry!). Lauren also sent along some US 0 and US 1 DPNs, a card with a gorgeous photograph of the Kitchen Mesa at the Ghost Ranch in NM, and a little box of chocolate truffles. (Can you tell two were missing when I snapped the photo? They were delicious!!)
Also included in the kit were two skeins of Artyarns Supermerino in colorway 106, which Lauren recommended for fingerless mitts. Lovely!
There’s more!
Lucy Neatby’s Paradoxical Mittens kit, which I really like and have wanted to knit. (This year, I hope!) Thank you Lauren! I loved the kit and it was well worth the wait.
My giftee for the swap was Ingrid in Sweden (no blog). I knit and felted an Arrow Basket for her and one of the pictures below shows the yarn I put in the kit.
This is one of the patterns where you manipulate the stitch count to achieve a certain striping or design with multi-colored yarn. It was fun to knit, but I’m glad the basket was felted because I wasn’t very careful about the appearance of the increases and decreases, as seen in the pre-felting picture below right.
