Anniversary (Contest #5)

For a while, I wasn’t sure what date to use for my blogiversary. Several dates stood out in my website’s timeline. Should I pick:

January 2000 registered this domain? No, but there’s an idea for another time.

April 10, 2004 first post while testing Movable Type? Maybe.

March 16, 2006 first post using Drupal? I think this is it.

October 15, 2006 switched to WordPress? Maybe.

It makes the most sense to choose the March 16 date as my blogiversary. I sat down one day and made the conscious effort to take pictures of and post about my knitting projects two or three times a week. I really wanted a knitting journal and this seemed the best way to do it.

Back then, I didn’t notice the specific date. Just one day earlier and it would have been the Ides of March, and a day later, St. Patrick’s Day! I also can’t believe it’s been 7 years since I got this domain.

To celebrate my blogiversary, I’m offering up a lovely skein of Socks That Rock light weight in Peaseblossom. This was one of the exclusive colorways from the 2006 Rockin’ Sock Club, so it does have a club label/band. Even if you’re not a socknitter, this yarn is great to work with and could be incorporated into a number of projects.

    Sounds like my many anniversaries with my DH. First call, first date, first time he made me dinner, the boinkaversary, etc. When we were planning our wedding we wanted to use one of our dates, but which date to choose? We didn’t choose the boinkaversary because that would be hard to explain to some folks.

    But SO much better than the Ides of March, or St. Patrick’s Day - your blogiversary is on St. Urho’s Day! The Finnish saint of the grasshopper! And the yarn almost matches the St. Urho’s day colors.
