Venezia

Last chance to enter the “What’s in a color?” contest—the deadline is midnight tonight!
I started a new pair of socks a couple weeks ago. The colorway fits the current Project Spectrum theme, and these socks will be gifted later this year. After completing two pairs in a row for myself, it was time for some gift-socknitting.
The pattern I’m using for these socks is “Yarrow Ribbed Socks” from Nancy Bush’s Knitting Vintage Socks. They were put on hiatus while I was sick and slowly knitting garter afghan squares, but I was able to pick them up again last week.
I love how the colors are pooling; it reminds me of marble, or maybe of small water waves. I’ve never been to Venice (or anywhere else in Italy, alas), but from movies I’ve seen and books I’ve read, these shades of blue seem to me a good match for the city.

I like the Yarrow Rib pattern– in fact, I like to call it ‘rail road rib’. A few weeks ago I used the pattern for a LL sock. (2nd sock has not been started!)

At first glance, I didn’t see Venice in the color. Of course, I’ve never been there either. (YET!) After a second or two, I totally saw it!It does! Very cool!

Hi! I just wanted to pop in and say Hello! since we’ll be competing in the same division in Sock Madness.
Those colors are very Venezian. I went there two years ago and it was definitely worth the trip!

Beautiful yarn! I’m eager to know what that is too.
