It’s cold!

03.Dec.06 ~ 1:47 pm

Thanks again to everyone who left comments about my Dad. I’m glad to report he’s well on the way to recovery, and was able to spend Thanksgiving at home.

It’s been busy, busy. We’ve been shopping, working, solving jigsaw puzzles, baking and cooking, eating, and knitting. (Okay, that last one was just me!) Here’s a picture from when Grandma and I baked some of my favorite Pumpkin cookies. Continue reading »

Update

21.Nov.06 ~ 1:31 pm

Thank you again to everyone who left comments about my Dad in my last post. We really appreciated it. He did leave the hospital last Monday. But by Friday, he had a high fever and signs of Pneumonia, and Mom took him back to the hospital yesterday morning. He has had oxygen and also new antibiotics. The folks at the hospital are hopeful that he will be able to go home tomorrow or the day after that.

I’ve been keeping myself busy knitting and cleaning my parents’ house and have hardly spent any time at the computer. I’m ridiculously behind. Grandma is in town for Thanksgiving, so we’ll be hitting the day-after sales this weekend. I hope to be able to share pictures of WIPs and FOs next week.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Worn Out

12.Nov.06 ~ 5:43 pm

I have no energy today. It’s been a busy and tiring weekend. My dad had to go into the hospital; he had a heart attack (20-year history), but is OK now and will go home in a couple more days. There’s plenty that needs to be done before Thanksgiving, so I’m going to take the week off.

I decided earlier that I wanted to participate in the “From the Stacks Winter Challenge.” Continue reading »

Strata

09.Nov.06 ~ 5:22 pm

Recently, my dad found a box still filled with stuff I had packed when they sold their house (3 years ago). It was one of these boxes containing different things that I’d had neither time nor room to pack properly.

It was fun looking through to see what I would find; saved books and comics from my childhood, school papers, and even an address book I thought was lost ages ago. I picked out and photographed this selection from different stages of my life—all from this one box.

I got a notification tonight from Firebox about a new update for 1.5, but I decided to try Firefox 2.0 instead. Guess what?

Holiday Preparation

07.Nov.06 ~ 9:38 am

I stopped by the 3 Kittens (update: link fixed, thanks!) last weekend to get some yarn for the secret gift I’m making. I lucked out because they were having a sale. The yarn I bought was 45% off, and I also got 15 patterns for $1! (The yarn doesn’t break my Yarn Diet, because it’ll be used for a gift.)

Knit Mitt Kit Swap Questionnaire

05.Nov.06 ~ 12:17 pm

Hi KMKS partner! I hope my answers are helpful.

  1. What are your favorite colors? Purple! I love deep colors, either jewels or muted. Yellow is my least favorite color, a little bit as accent is fine. My all-time favorite color combination would be purple and green.

Sock Yarn Love

04.Nov.06 ~ 7:45 am

I really do like sock yarn! They’re so colorful and fun to look at. Plus, you usually only need 1-2 skeins and that’s not as expensive as buying yarn for larger projects. Before I put myself on a yarn diet, I had acquired some fun and varied sock yarns. (Hey! Today, it’ll have been been 5 weeks! Yay!)
