Blogland

Such a vast area to nagivate! I’ve fallen behind on my blog reading again. I’ve used the Sage extension for Firefox during the past year. I like it, but it does have a downside: I can’t access my feeds from another computer or via my Treo smartphone. It also can stall when it encounters a bad feed or a temporarily offline site. I’ve tried a few online readers (eg: Bloglines), but I didn’t really like how they appeared on my Treo. In order to be able to view picures or in some cases, the complete post, I had to open the original site, which in turn meant more loading time on my phone.

This week, I finally tried Google Reader and I’m really happy with it so far. It doesn’t prioritize my tags/folders (I was able to rearrange as I desired in Sage), but the fix is easy: use numbers or symbols at the start of your tag names. For example, I have 1faves, 2kal, 2faves, etc; this is an easy way for me to break down my multiple feeds into small, manageable groups.

But best of all, the mobile version of GR loads quickly on my Treo, with pictures. If I want to comment, I can either load the original site or star the post and come back to it later when I have time.

I didn’t even know there was a Google reader. So many things to try… I feel tired just thinking about it :)

Cool, sounds like you found something that works for you. I was going to suggest Newsgator b/c I noticed they’ve been advertising their “mobile” service.

No yarn left for stitches.
