Ladybugs Big and Small
I finished the first of 5 pairs of holiday gift socks! (Which leaves me with 4 pairs to finish in two months, but I’d rather not think about that right now.) May I present to you the Little Shell Socks in Opal Rainforest Ladybug…
I’m happy with how they turned out. I could have continued the lace down the instep, but I opted for plain stockinette. Little Shell was a very easy stitch pattern to memorize; however, I must mention it is not centered on the leg. It’s not easily noticeable, I know I didn’t notice it myself until I got to the heel flap. If you want to center the lace, it’s very easy to accomplish: shift the pattern repeat by one stitch. In other words, start the pattern repeats with a K1 (so that it ends with a K1, instead of a K2). If I make these socks again, I hope I’ll remember that. : )
Just for kicks, here’s a close-up of the cute little ridges.
And these Opal skeins are always so generous! I knit a pair of baby-sized Feather & Fan socks with the leftover yarn.
I rather like how the striping worked out on these. I’ve started the next pair, but am not yet certain the Flamingo and the pattern (Hippy Crunchy from BMFA) are a go.

I love ladybugs. Those socks are super cute!

Great socks! With the baby socks, the picture needs a penny or something for size comparison
The only picture I can see is that of the baby socks, which are adorable!
