Return of the Sock Monkey
Thank you to everyone who has entered Contest #3, and for your compliments! : ) There’s still time left (deadline is October 21); leave a comment here for a chance to win some yummy sock yarn.
I decided last night to cancel the two other “secret” sock projects I had on my sidebar. I had a couple of ideas for this contest, but time is simply not with me right now. I’ve saved all my ideas and charts for next year when I can implement them, so not all is lost. Just temporarily.
I did some shopping, but I haven’t broken my Yarn Diet yet. I bought some patterns from Knitwhits. One of them I wanted for a Christmas gift; I’ll need five (ack!) colors of Cascade 220 or something similar. The people I’m making this for don’t read my blog often, but I don’t want to take the chance they see this, so I’m keeping mum for now.
And yeah, the sock monkeys? It seems as if they’re getting to be everywhere. Nick and Nora, in their usual retro/vintage style, are offering at Target sheets (flannel or jersey) and pajamas with sock monekys.
Question: Has anyone ever made or seen a sock monkey in non-traditional colors?

I don’t know how much of each color you need, but I have some leftover Cascade 220 from my French Market Bag (in khaki and turquoise quatro)that I could share.:)
Yes! There was an argyle sock monkey at Crafty Planet when we were there earlier tonight.
There are a ton of images on Flickr of unusually colored sock monkeys. Just search for them there. I’m still unsure where people are finding those socks to make them from, but they are certainly a ton of fun!
I have some Nick and Nora sock monkey PJs from that year, but they were blue. I might have to get another set this year :-) I was a sock monkey crazy baby. There are many, many baby photos of me with my sock monkey that my great grandmother gave me :-)
