Secret Pal Wrap-Up

This post is long overdue! (Oh, the guilt!) I participated in both Secret Pal 8 and the One Skein Secret Pals Exchange this past summer. I had long enjoyed reading about other people’s experiences in the SP exchanges, and forced myself to start my blog earlier this year so I would be eligible for SP8. Then I saw the premise for 1SSP (send 1 skein for each of the first two months, then a knit/crocheted item made with 1 skein in the third month) and loved it. I’m glad I pariticipated in these exchanges. It was a lot of fun spoiling my secret pals and receiving goodies, too! I don’t think I would want to do multi-swaps again (at least, not for a while). There’s a new Sock-ret Pal that was tempting (and such a cute logo), and is setup a bit differently, with 3 swaps spread out during 6 months (one package every two months). Maybe next time!?

Anyhow, my 1SSP spoilée was Nicole in NY who is blogless. Funnily enough, my SP8 spoilée was also named Nicole! Here’s her blog. I got wonderful and thoughtful gifts from Molly (Knittinmol) through 1SSP, and Lorinda (Redhead Ramblings) with SP8. Thanks everyone for the fun exchanges!! : )

I never got a chance to blog about the last (and very wonderful) package from Lorinda for SP8. Here’s what she sent…

A very cute plastic retro-dotty portfolio that contained TWO patterns inside… the gorgeous Elfin Lace Shawl from Cherry Tree Hill, and a very cute felted bag/purse. This portfolio would be perfect for bringing several patterns along for traveling. Right now, I’m using it to hold all the possible patterns for the Rainforest/holiday socknitting.

A lime green bath travel bag filled with various washes and sprays. There’s also a purple bath puff that rolled away before I got a photo.

A lovely glass butterfly you can hang on the side of a pot, a green tealight candle holder, a sparkly green pen, a striped tape measure, and a cute magnet with “Love me, love my cat.”

Fun cute little things from the American Girl Place store, a pad, pen, and stickers, plus a Seurat magnet (love his paintings!).

Edited 01/2008 Sorry! This picture has gone missing. :( A little photo album, vintage buttons and frog closure, and little sticky Scrabble tiles to spell out my name.

Bright lime green gardening bag that is perfect for use as a knitting project bag. Fab! Plus cute purple/green buttons and some cat-themed sticky notes.

So far I had a wonderful time opening this package and discovering what goodies were contained within. She also included two fabulous fiber finds for me.

Three skeins of wonderful NatureSpun worsted in Cranberry. The color here is a tiny bit pinker than in real life. I’ve used NatureSpun sport before for felted projects and it’s terrific.

Woo… so yummy! This white Kid Mohair is by Feza, and Lorinda found it during a trip to Maine. Very cool! I look forward to finding the right project for these yarns. : ) Thank you Lorinda!!

I never know what to do with mohair – I’d love to see what you do with it – it’s very beautiful.
