Errant Ankles

I haven’t posted about sock knittage lately, have I? Did you think perhaps I wasn’t knitting any socks at all? That couldn’t be further from the truth. : )

The morning I left for Stitches Midwest in Chicago, I started working on backup Amazing Lace teammate #2, Jackie’s Errant Ankles Lace Socks. I didn’t have a purchased copy of the pattern, but followed the guidelines and suggestions she gives in her Socknitters Cybersocks class.

I really liked the look of the lace, and the name too. I wanted to use the Fairydust yarn I got from Over the Rainbow. I had a feeling that the variegation would complement, not overwhelm, the lace, and I think it works.

I finished the first cuff and leg during my Chicago trip, but had to put it away on the flight back because I couldn’t find my copy of the instep transition chart. Since then, I’ve finished the lace transition and have also started the second sock.

It’s a really fun lace pattern to knit, not complicated at all. I was enthralled and hated to stop knitting when I had no other choice. I’ve decided that the blue in this yarn is really a bit too light for my taste. So I doubt I will keep these for myself.

Other News: I updated my sock count in the sidebar finally. You’ll see I’ve got another pair in the works and I’ll share pictures as soon as I can. While I was organizing my knitting patterns and books, I took some extra time to plan ahead for my holiday socknitting this year. I think I’ve got a nice variety of patterns set aside, ones that will work well with the Opal Rainforest yarn I’ll be using. I might need one more masculine pattern, though.

I’ve set a personal goal to complete 17 pairs in 2006. Once I finish the two pairs I’ve currently got on the needles, that will leave me the minimum 5 more pairs I need for gifts.

I also got my first three real spam comments today. Blech. Lets hope they are infrequent for a long time!
