Moebius Basket

As I mentioned in my previous post… the felting of the Moebius basket turned out marvelous. Voici!
~ I was able to stuff two hand towels into the bowl section for shaping and drying. ~
This project was the fastest felting experience ever! I think it took all of 15 minutes. I didn’t really need my book and timer after all. (I used Valley Yarns Berkshire from WEBS.)
You might’ve noticed from the pre-felting picture that the Moebius band incorporates garter stitch, while the rest is stockinette. I’m happy to report that you can’t even see the garter stitch (though, you can feel the difference).
I’m really pleased with this basket. It would be great for gift-giving, filled with baked goodies or small gifts. You can easily glam it up with glitzy or furry yarn, or try two-color or entrelac. A very versatile pattern!
When it was finished, I couldn’t help but think of an ushanka. The shape and extreme fuzziness also reminded me of the tall helmets (bearskin?) worn by the Queen’s Guard. So, of course, I had to test out this new use.
~ My head doesn’t look big, does it? ~
(You didn’t think I meant myself? I was lucky to get the elusive Munchkin to model for a bare second!)

Oh that moebius basket turned out wonderfully! And your kitty (Munchkin?) is adorable. If you haven’t received it yet, I will give you a hint that some felting was involved in your August 1SSP gift. :)

Munchkin looks – quite – proud!!! The bowl turned out fabulous. I’ll just have to put that on my “to-do” list now.
