Swap Fun and Classes
I’ve reverted the blog back to the default theme/skin. (July already!) If you’re registered here, you can change back to the blue theme by editing your account (the theme section is near the bottom). I’ll leave it there for a while. : )
SYAC Update
They’re finally done! Well, nearly. I still need to graft the cuff and will do that today. But I’m so happy. They look good and are warm and comfy. They should fit. I’ll get a couple of pictures, before washing, to post later.
I would like to try and write up the pattern for these socks. The stitch pattern I used has lots of possibilities (I swatched several variations and liked them all), so I’m not sure how to approach that.
Sock Bag Swap
I could not resist the retro fabrics Trek had available for sock bags. Last week, I contacted her and arranged to swap for two bags. Happily, they arrived yesterday!
I love the colors and patterning! Right now, the retro mums is my favorite. The lining inside the bags is equally cute.
I’m very happy with the bags, thank you Trek! : ) By the way, Trek is now making DPN cases, too!
Stitches Midwest 2006
I received official confirmation of my class schedule for Stitches Midwest. I am so excited! : ) My classes are:
- Nordic Color: an Inlay Technique from Estonia, Nancy Bush (Thursday PM)
- Intarsia in the Round, Beth Brown-Reinsel (Friday PM)
- Zip, Button, Tie: Creative Closures, Margaret Fisher (Saturday AM)
- Art of Knitting Backwards, Candace Eisner Strick (Sunday AM)
I was interested in the day-long courses (eg: lining a jacket or Bohus Stickning), but they were all on the same day. Since I can’t be in two-plus places at the same time, I went with one morning or afternoon class on each day. I have no idea what to expect with Nancy Bush’s Nordic color class (I googled and found a few knitbloggers who mentioned they were taking that class at other events, but no further information). We need to be familiar with both stranding and intarsia for the Intarsia in the Round class. I actually have a sock pattern/project floating in my mind for which I will need this technique.) I need to practice stranding this coming month! I’m taking the closure class so I can learn how to attach zippers, since I usually prefer them over buttons. And knitting backwards? Perfect for these small edgings, no?
