X-treme Shopping

X-tremely FAST shopping, that is.

9:35 AM, June 17 ~ lime and Team Member 1 (Diamond Lace) are merrily working together on the front lace panels while reading emails and blogs, until suddenly—

“What’s this? Oh, look DL, there’s a promotional 50% off sale at Dover Publications!” CLICK “I think they have a few knitting books.” CLICK “Yup, about a dozen.” CLICK “It ends tomorrow!”

Fifty percent!? (Yarn communicates telepathically, you know.)

“I added all the knitting books I could find to my shopping chart. Most of them are stitch dictionaries, and some include historical information. And there’s EZ’s Knitter’s Almanac.” pause “Hmm, too much money…”

“Yeah, I know, I know. But it doesn’t quite fit into my budget, even with the discount.”

Want knitting books!

“Shush. I’ll get SOME books. I just can’t get them all.”

“Yup, there are two volumes of Kinzel’s Modern Lace Knitting.”

Lace! Buy!

“Good choice! The Guernesy, Aran, and EZ books can wait.”

“Ahh… much better! 5 books and a 50% discount, that’s lovely. And look, our order qualifies for free Media Mail shipping.”

Lace! LACE!

“I didn’t forget about you. Take a look; the Modern Lace Knitting books are in the cart. I’ll checkout now.”

9:40:30 AM

“All done!”

“Yup! We’ll get the Kinzel books in a week or so.”

Lace! Yay!

X-tremely brilliant shopping? Or X-tremely foolhardy? Our pals, lime and DL, will soon find out! Here’s one last word from DL:

This post is my entry for Challenge #2 of The Amazing Lace 2006.

My original idea was to knit while riding a Tilt-A-Whirl. Alas, the Fates did not allow this (either the ride was closed, or my camera was MIA when it was open). That would have been cool!

But I think, perhaps, you like lace a little tiny bit?

Fun entry! But X-treme shopping sounds a bit safer than knitting on the Tilt-A-Whirl!!

Sounds like DL can be a little challenging, but your strong leadership skills will keep the team on course.

    Knitting on the Tilt-a-Whirl. Yikes.

We sall it the Tilt-A-Hurl because usually some one does – hurl, that is. Good luck with the lace project.

I should keep up better with my blog reading! I’ve been wanting those books (modern lace knitting) so bad!!

Good score on the books. I think the whole whirling with sharp pointy sticks and string might not be allowed, you know, for the possible major catostrophic bodily injury and mechanical malfunction that could be caused if you were to, oh I don’t know, drop a needle or loose control of your yarn. But hey, what do I know? :-) Just saying…

    Great interpretation!
