Surprise, Surprise!

The Madder Ribbed socks are finished! Pictures to come on Tuesday once they’re dry.
I didn’t finish them on Friday night as I planned. Instead, I took a break to make a headband based on Knit and Tonic Wendy’s Dream Swatch Head Scarf. I had about half a skein of that yummy Alchemy Bamboo in Rust Red left over from making Mom this basket for her birthday. I thought, “Oooh, perfect for a headband,” since I didn’t have a whole skein to work with. My plan is to find some elastic I’ve put away somewhere and sew the two ends together. I’ll try to do that this coming weekend. But meanwhile, here are a couple pictures.
Also last week, my Rowan Kaffee Fassett Tumbling Blocks pillow kit arrived. It’s better than I imagined it would be.
I thought it would be plain and very much neutral with only browns and beiges. I was very wrong. This will look wonderful knitted up and might even match my parents’ new basement. I’m planning to knit this for August Project Spectrum
See up there in the top left? That’s the Kaffee Fassett coordinating fabric for the backing. Can I say one word? YUM! : ) I’m looking forward to this already.
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there.
