One Skein SP Questionnaire

I was contacted by my 1 Skein Secret Pal (whom I’ll call Atlantis, if that’s OK; great name!) and I emailed off my responses. I decided to post a copy here as well, because I’m in some more exchange/swap groups, and these answers could be helpful! I’ve also received an response from my 1SSP spoilée. She’s currently blogless; so I’ll be emailing her now and then. This weekend, my SP8 group should be getting our matches. I can’t wait! : )

1. Which yarn is most like your personality (you can be specific or general with your answer- brand, type, color, fiber, whatever)? Hmmm… this was very tough for me to answer! I pick worsted-weight 100% wool because it can be used in a variety of projects, both traditional and innovative, comes in many types and colors, and holds up well.
2. What is your favorite color yarn to knit/crochet with? Usually dark, deep colors (jewel, or muted). I go through phases and will gravitate towards certain colors at different times.
3. Have you ever used variegated, or magic, yarns? Yup, love them! Love solids too, especially heathers/tweeds are great too.
4. Do you tend to favor certain fibers when choosing yarns? Not really. It can depend on the colors available, or the project I have in mind.
5. Do you prefer to work with center-pull or traditionally wound balls of yarn? Doesn’t matter. : )
6. Have you ever worked with organic yarns or are you interested in trying them? The only organic yarn I have had experience with is tussah silk that came with a Yarn of the Month shipment. I’m definitely interested in organic yarn.
7. How many and what projects have you made in the last year? I remember 2 pairs of socks, a sweater, a cardi, 5 hats, a basket, a mini-scarf, a lace scarf, a railroad yarn shawl, kitty toys… I can’t think of anything else.
8. Will you be knitting any gifts this year? Yup… socks!
9. What is your favorite one skein project? I gotta say socks. But mittens (or fingerless gloves), hats, washcloths, and the like are also good.
10. How much yarn do you have in your stash and how do you store it? In case you haven’t seen it yet, there is a Yarn Stash gallery on my website. (Anything crossed out has been knitted and/or swapped, etc). I keep all my yarn in an ottoman storage cube, a mini trunk, 4 pink Ikea storage boxes, and a couple of plastic boxes.
11. Do you have a yarn in your stash that you love so much you can never use it or part with it? I don’t believe so. I have plans (or good intentions) for most of my yarn. I do have some (20 skeins) Berroco Flax I haven’t figured out what to do with yet.
12. Do you knit less or differently in the summer? Nope, I don’t think so. I keep knitting as much as I can. If it’s very hot, I may put aside the wool for a while, or work on smaller/lighter projects.
13. Do you belong to any knitting groups (online or offline)? I’m on the Socknitters mailing list and the TCKnit (Minnesota) list (but I pretty much lurk). Current KALs I belong to are the Sock Yarn Addicts Club, Don’t Come A Knockin’ (Sock) Club, and The Amazing Lace. I read the Knitter’s Review forums when I can.
