Making Progress!

19.May.06 ~ 2:10 pm

Thanks again for the compliments about my recently completed Madder Ribbed socks. I appreciated them and enjoyed these socks very much (even though I had to rip them out and restart)… the patterning is simple yet entertaining and attractive. Continue reading »

Shepherd’s Harvest 2006

18.May.06 ~ 7:55 am
Saturday, my parents and I went to Shepherd’s Harvest. It was overcast and cold enough that we wished we had mittens or gloves. (There were some for sale, but we didn’t buy any.) So, no MDSW good weather mojo, but at least it wasn’t pouring rain like it did at NHSW (look at the 2nd and 3rd pictures here; and don’t forget to scroll down for an awesome family portrait!).

There were a lot of local knitbloggers there all weekend, but I didn’t see any familiar faces in the crowd.

Madder Ribbed Socks

16.May.06 ~ 5:36 pm
Ta da, here are a couple pictures of my most recently completed pair. These will be a gift later this year. So I first tried them on for an “action” shot before washing.

Surprise, Surprise!

14.May.06 ~ 7:07 pm

The Madder Ribbed socks are finished! Pictures to come on Tuesday once they’re dry.

I didn’t finish them on Friday night as I planned. Instead, I took a break to make a headband based on Knit and Tonic Wendy’s Dream Swatch Head Scarf. I had about half a skein of that yummy Alchemy Bamboo in Rust Red left over from making Mom this basket for her birthday. I thought, “Oooh, perfect for a headband,” since I didn’t have a whole skein to work with. My plan is to find some elastic I’ve put away somewhere and sew the two ends together. I’ll try to do that this coming weekend. But meanwhile, here are a couple pictures. Continue reading »

One Skein SP Questionnaire

13.May.06 ~ 9:55 am

I was contacted by my 1 Skein Secret Pal (whom I’ll call Atlantis, if that’s OK; great name!) and I emailed off my responses. I decided to post a copy here as well, because I’m in some more exchange/swap groups, and these answers could be helpful! I’ve also received an response from my 1SSP spoilĂ©e. She’s currently blogless; so I’ll be emailing her now and then. This weekend, my SP8 group should be getting our matches. I can’t wait! : )

Mishmash

11.May.06 ~ 3:55 pm

Quick Madder Ribbed socks update… I haven’t been able to work on them very much, but I plan to finish them both by tomorrow evening. Fingers crossed, except when knitting!

I have a BUSY weekend coming up. On Saturday, my parents and I are going to Shepherd’s Harvest. Althought I don’t have my secret pals’ (yes, plural) information yet, I’m hoping to get some fun gifts there. Then on Sunday morning, Mom and I are team-walking at Race for the Cure at MOA. (I’m debating whether I should bring a knitting project; I’m tempted, but I know it will be crowded, and I may not have an appropriate project for walking.)

Oh yeah! I’m hoping for some MDSW weather mojo… the weather prediction: rainy and cool this weekend. : /

Dyann tagged me for a meme. I don’t have a hubby or SO, so I skipped that. Continue reading »

Tentative Plans

ATTN Spring Feet Sock Swap Pal: I responded to your comment re: color; you can see it here at the post bottom. : )

I’ve been thinking about my current WIPs and what I want or need to knit this summer.

Back on Track!

07.May.06 ~ 4:45 pm

I’m so happy! Finally, I frogged what I had knitted on these socks last Thursday.

At first, I frogged only halfway to see if they could be saved this way, but I still wasn’t happy, so RIP, everything went. I was in a positive mood, so I restarted immediately and have been working on them since. Continue reading »

Desperately Seeking Two-Point-Five!

05.May.06 ~ 10:30 am

A couple weeks ago, I procured a set of Crystal Palace bamboo double-pointed needles, 6-inch length, in US #1.5 (2.5mm). My gauge often is just a bit too tight on US1 and a bit too loose on US2 for most socks. I hoped these US1.5 needles would be the answer. I frogged (sadly) the Madder Ribbed socks and did a quick gauge swatch, perfection! 15 stitches per 2 inches. And the resulting fabric is a skotch looser than what I was getting with US1. I’m a gauge-happy lime!

However… Continue reading »
